‘The Walking Dead’ To Be Re-Broadcast in Black and White?

AMC The Walking Dead Black and White

For all the many comic-to-TV comparisons of ‘The Walking Dead‘ we make, one of the most notable changes is almost always glossed over. While the AMC series is always broadcast in glorious, vibrant technicolor, the Robert Kirkman comic books on which the series is based have always been a dreary black and white. AMC previously paid homage to the monochromatic art style by broadcasting the show’s pilot episode “Days Gone Bye” without color, but are you ready to see the entire series in intense black and white?

Modern viewers might love their high-definition and vibrant colors, but there’s no substitution for the gritty appeal of a black and white horror-fest. Such was partly the reasoning behind Robert Kirkman’s decision to keep ‘The Walking Dead’ monochromatic, and by association AMC’s choice to re-broadcast their adaptation’s pilot episode “Days Gone Bye” in the format. Now, ‘The Walking Dead Magazine’ has announced that AMC will follow suit with the rest of the series, re-airing the entire ‘Walking Dead’ series in glorious black and white!

Taking place in February, the network will continue what began with “Days Gone Bye,” airing all eighteen episodes of the zombie-killer thriller TV series without color. It remains to be seen if the airing will take place as a marathon or air over different nights, but the move is likely designed to promote ‘The Walking Dead’s February return with “The Suicide King.”

What say you? Would you want to watch ‘The Walking Dead’ in black and white for an extra visceral thrill? Check out the press release, and give us your thoughts in the comments!
