Well it's been awhile since I've updated you guys on my condition. Well, I've had a couple more PET scans since my last update and they both came back with no active cancer showing up. Good news right? I thought so too....until.

My Oncologist told me that although my scans came back clear, there was still a problem with a few of my lymph nodes. They were still enlarged. He wanted to send me for a second opinion in Sugarland. "Great", I thought....it's not over.

So I go see another Oncologist in Sugarland at Methodist Hospital. He's had over 40 years in the cancer field so I figured this guy knows what he's talking about. He takes blood (they ALWAYS find a reason to put a needle into you of course) and tells me he needs to see my scans that the hospital here in Victoria forgot to send over. So he says "See you in a week."

One week later I go back with a disc from DeTar with all my recent scans on them. I hand them to his nurse and about 30 minutes later he comes into the room and asks how I'm feeling. I thought to myself "Great, he's seen something else and is wondering if I've had any symptoms". So I tell him I'm feeling pretty good and he says "good". Then he tells me that the enlarged lymph nodes are most likely just caused from scar tissue considering the hell I went through with chemo and remember, I also have Lupus. He says everything looks good and that "I'm fine".

So I ask him if I am in remission and he says the 3 words I've been waiting to hear for a long time..."You're in remission".

So, it appears that my fight is over and I've won. Hodgkins Lymphoma does have a high re-occurrence rate so naturally I'll have to get checked every 6 months for awhile but I'll take it. Considering I wasn't diagnosed until stage 3 I think keeping an eye on it every 6 months maybe we can catch it if it flares up again....before it gets to the level it was before. So that's it. Unless something bad happens this will be the last update until 6 months from now when I get my next PET scan.

If you've followed along, thank you. I appreciate it. I've always said I would be honest and uncensored when it comes to what I've been going through. Maybe my experiences can help someone out some day. If you or someone you know is going through cancer treatments and maybe have any questions regarding my experiences by all means drop me a line DaveFenix@townsquaremedia.com and I will answer. Trust me, you're not alone.

Thanks again!

Dave
