Located on Fifth Avenue in lower Manhattan, the Museum of Sex is uh, pretty much what it sounds like.

Believe it or not, New York was not the first place to have a sex museum. Way back in mid-18th century Italy, the Museo Borbonico was built near Naples in order to house (read: hide) sexually explicit paintings that were discovered in the ruins of Pompeii. They were locked in a room and only men were permitted to enter and view them. LAME.

Distinctly co-ed, The Museum of Sex in New York produces exhibitions, programs and publications on sex and sexuality geared towards educating the community about the history of and future of everyone's favorite kind of things: sexy things. The museum spotlights the work of activists, intellectuals, entrepreneurs, leaders and lovers in the world of sexual intercourse, and aims to provide context and insight. Coincidentally, this is a topic that all of us here in the office feel passionate about. (Ha! Just kidding, I'm working from bed, but the rest is true.) Oh also, there's a bar inside, and there's a really fun (and very NSFW) video about one of their current exhibits right here. Don't say I didn't warn you, dude at the "open air" desk working directly behind his crabby supervisor!

With current exhibitions named things like 'My Life Ruined By Sex,' and 'Universe of Desire' (an exhibit dedicated to online porn), the Museum of Sex is a guaranteed crowd pleaser; and just wait until you get to the gift shop. A-WINK! You know, because of sex toys? Cool. Have a good weekend.
