Texas Tech Will Open Football Season on Saturday as Scheduled

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are opening their Big 12 football season on Saturday, September 2nd instead of a day later, a change designed to satisfy a television network.

The change back to the original schedule came shortly after the school had announced the game would be on Sunday instead because of a request from the Big 12 and from Fox Sports. The change back to the original date came following a tweet from Eastern Washington Athletic Director Bill Chaves that said his school had never approved of the new date for the game.
