Ted Nugent Dropped From Ft. Knox Concert, But Has ‘Solid’ Meeting With Secret Service

Thursday was a good news/bad news day for rocker Ted Nugent. While his meeting with the Secret Service came to a conclusion both parties felt was satisfying, he was dropped from the lineup of a show at Ft. Knox in Kentucky because of last weekend’s comments at an NRA convention in St. Louis, Mo.

“Good, solid, professional meeting concluding that I have never made any threats of violence towards anyone,” Nugent said, according to Reuters. “The meeting could not have gone better.”

The Secret Service, who Nugent had admitted to being friends with, came to the same conclusion. “The issue has been resolved. The Secret Service does not anticipate any further action,” spokesman Brian Leary said.

WAVE television in Louisville, Ky. reported that Nugent had been dropped from a June 23 show that also featured REO Speedwagon and Styx. While it’s not clear that the Motor City Madman was dropped because of his comments, the timing could be viewed as an indication that the remarks were connected to his release.

Last weekend, while doing interviews at the NRA convention, Nugent tried to rally conservatives to get behind Mitt Romney. “If Barack Obama becomes the president in November, again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year,” he said. It was that comment and a comment about chopping “their heads off in November” that earned him the most scrutiny. He has since stood by his comments when pressed to further explain himself.
