The search for a 'Star Wars: Episode 7' director is over. J.J. Abrams - the man who once said he would only be interested in 'Star Wars' as a paying moviegoer - will direct the first film in the new trilogy.
We've heard rumors that there would be a point where we could see multiple 'Star Wars' films in a single year, much like what Marvel is doing with their superhero universe. What would that mean outside of 'Star Wars: Episode 7' and its sequels we didn't really know but now we've got a much better idea of Disney's plans. Director Zack Snyder ('Man of Steel') is developing a 'Star Wars' spinoff that would be loosely based on 'The Seven Samurai' but with Jedi.
For whatever reason, 'Star Wars' fans petitioned the White House wanting the United States to make a Death Star. That the country our the government has no interest in making one is no surprise. But the Chief of the Science and Space Branch at the White House Office of Management and Budget Paul Shawcross responded to the petition in the nerdiest way possible.
With George Lucas out of Lucasfilm, a number of big changes have already happened. They're developing 'Star Wars Episode 7,' and it looks like a long promised spin-off may be coming out of the mothballs. No, not another Ewok adventure, but the long rumored live-action 'Star Wars' television show.
'Star Wars: Episode 7' has gotten the approval of previous 'Star Wars' stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Ewan McGregor and heck, even Billy Dee Williams. As the opening song from 'Beauty and the Beast,' 'Bonjour' is instantly recognizable. In a funny tribute to the fact that Disney now owns LucasFilms and thus 'Star Wars,' Comedivas created a giggle-worthy parody video of one of our favorite Disney songs.
‘Star Wars’ will never die. George Lucas made sure of that when he sold the franchise to Disney a few weeks ago. This is great news, because we’re not ready to give up collecting ‘Star Wars’ action figures, bed sheets and insanely expensive lightsaber replicas. And now we’ve got a brand new toy straight from the dark side we’re itching to get our hands on – the ‘Star Wars’ Glowing Lightsaber Ice Pop Maker!
In one of the more bizarre yet cooler crossovers, the 'Angry Birds: Star Wars' game is now available for purchase. The trailer begins with an homage to 'Star Wars: A New Hope' as two Angry Birds, one dressed as Luke Skywalker and the other as Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi, enter the iconic Mos Eisley bar on Tattooine.
Everybody wants to hop onboard the Disney / 'Star Wars' train. In fact, Team Coco found all of these legitimate (not legitimate) audition tapes from directors who hope to helm the next installment (not really). Here they all are in one convenient spot for you. We think the Wes Anderson spoof is probably the most spot-on. Which one is your favorite?
