The Smashing Pumpkins have begun writing a new album. Frontman Billy Corgan announced yesterday (March 25) that a follow-up to the Pumpkins' 2012 full-length, 'Oceania,' is in the works, much to the joy of fans worldwide.

The Smashing Pumpkins will soon be back in action, and the Lone Star State is on the agenda, but unfortunately the only stop will be in Dallas. The band launches their 2013 World Tour at the Cumbre Tajin Festival in Mexico on March 23. The band will be promoting their 2012 effort, 'Oceania,' and they've got a few tricks up their sleeves for the forthcoming tour.

Are the Smashing Pumpkins the next Led Zeppelin? Drummer Mike Byrne certainly wasn’t suggesting his band — fronted by Billy Corgan — was anything comparable to the legendary classic rockers. But he did evoke the group’s name in describing ‘Oceania’ during an interview with Music Radar.
