SNL Presents Christoph Waltz in ‘Djesus Uncrossed’

SNL Djesus Uncrossed

With ‘Inglourious Basterds’ and ‘Django Unchained‘ star Christoph Waltz hosting, it was inevitable that last night’s Saturday Night Live would contain some kind of Quentin Tarantino parody…and oh boy, did they deliver in the most offensively hilarious way possible. There’s no reason for Tarantino to make a third historical revenge film now — SNL has done it for him with ‘Djesus Uncrossed.’

Be warned: if you’re the easily offended type or can’t handle even incredibly cartoonish blood, you may want to click the back button on your browser.

The sketch is a faux movie trailer starring Christoph Waltz as Jesus Christ, newly risen from the grave and seeking revenge against the Romans who killed him. That means we get to see Waltz wearing a crown of thorns and wielding a samurai sword, slicing and dicing his way through a legion of baddies. It’s kind of a amazing, made even better by Waltz’s completely straight performance — his lack of mugging for the camera makes it all the more ridiculous.

The reset of the sketch gives various cast members the chance to impersonate Tarantino regulars like Samuel L. Jackson and Brad Pitt in a Biblical context, but this is all about Waltz…and being as offensive as possible. It’s been a long time since SNL did something that felt like it was going out of its way to piss off a large portion of America and while we have no idea if this will inspire any controversy at all, we’re so very glad it exists.
