It’s been a big year for Slash. First there was the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, and now the musician has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The guitarist was saluted Tuesday (July 10) in Hollywood in front of the Hard Rock Café where radio host Jim Ladd, film producer Robert Evans, and the guitarist’s neighbor and friend Charlie Sheen were all on hand to witness the ceremony and speak on Slash’s behalf. Also in attendance were Slash’s wife Perla, their children, and former Guns N’ Roses bandmates Steven Adler and Gilby Clarke.

According to TMZ, Sheen joked with the crowd, ”It’s quite fitting that Slash is getting a star on the very street Axl Rose will one day be sleeping on … This star is going to be stepped on more than the coke we did in the ’80s.”

After the event, Slash and his bandmate Myles Kennedy treated fans to a private acoustic performance and a Q&A session at the Hard Rock Café on Hollywood Boulevard.

In addition to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honor, Slash was named by Time magazine as the No. 2 guitarist of all-time, landing right behind Jimi Hendrix on their list.

Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators released their new album, ‘Apocalyptic Love,’ back in late May, and they’re currently on a West Coast swing that continues Thursday in Portland at the Roseland Theater. This fall, they’ll start a new leg of dates Sept. 4 in San Diego, with Foxy Shazam providing support throughout the run.
