Slash, Dee Snider + More React to the Death of Clive Burr on Twitter

Iron Maiden

The death of original Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr on Tuesday (March 12) has shaken the rock community. Many rockers who knew and were influenced by Burr, including Slash and Dee Snider, took to Twitter to express their feelings.

Burr died in his sleep at the age of 56 after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. On Wednesday Iron Maiden wrote on their website, “We are deeply saddened to report that Clive Burr passed away last night. He had suffered poor health for many years after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and died peacefully in his sleep at home.” The statement also included words from Steve Harris and Bruce Dickinson.

Paul Di’Anno, Maiden’s original lead singer, also expressed his grief. “Sad to hear of your passing,” he wrote (via Blabbermouth). “You will always be in my heart, Clive. A truly unique talent that will never be forgotten.” Di’Anno recorded as a member of Iron Maiden, their 1980 self-titled debut, and ‘Killers’ a year later. Both albums featured Burr, who lasted one more album with Maiden, on drums.
