Sir Mix A Lot Surprises Audience with Symphonic Version of “Baby Got Back”

You read that right. This past Saturday night, Hip Hop legend Sir Mix A Lot, took part in a rare concert with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra.

The rapper’s appearance at Benaroya hall came about as part of the Seattle Symphony’s Sonic Evolution series, which commissions new orchestral work inspired by Seattle’s music icons. Gabriel Prokofiev, a London-based composer, DJ and producer (and grandson of the Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev), orchestrated “Baby Got Back” as well as the 1988 track “Posse on Broadway.”

Mix A Lot invited ladies on stage to dance and actually had to turn some away….there were THAT many volunteers. Imagine if you will…dozens of nicely dressed women there for a symphony performance, on stage dancing to “Baby Got Back”.

Better yet….watch it.

Enjoy!
