The name of Sick Puppies' upcoming album is 'Connect,' and the band wanted to make sure they connected with listeners right off the bat with their lead single. The group recently revealed that the song that we be the introduction to their disc would be 'There's No Going Back' and now they're speaking about why that was the pick.

In a new video, posted above, both singer/guitarist Shim Moore and bassist Emma Anzai share their thoughts on the song. Anzai says, "We wanted to release 'There's No Going Back' first because it was like a mix between a feel good song and just like a high energy song. We have rock songs on the record [and] we have also ballady, emotional songs and that was like a good hybrid of both."

Moore added, "It's a good statement because the record is much more musical. It was consciously much more musical. It's an elevation for us as players, as writers for what we're trying to say because our audience has also evolved."

The singer also recently spoke with us on the black carpet at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards, and he explained of their musical direction, "It’s a louder record, but we went for a different sound in terms of the layering of the guitars. So there aren’t as many guitars, but the ones that we do have we’ve turned up a lot more."

'Connect' is due in stores July 16 and the video for 'There's No Going Back' is expected to premiere tomorrow (June 3). The disc is currently available for pre-order via iTunes.
