Sad news out of Houston this morning. Daniel Fleetwood, the man some of you might know as the terminally ill Star Wars fan who was granted his dying wish to see the new Star Wars film early, has died from cancer this morning.

His wife Ashley posted to Facebook this morning "Daniel put up an amazing fight to the very end. He is now one with God and with the force. He passed in his sleep and in peace. He will always be my idol and my hero. Please hug uncle Marc for me and give Lucy lots of kisses. Rest in peace my love."

Daniel has been battling a very aggressive form of cancer the past few months. On September 1st, his doctors gave him the grim prognosis that he only had 1-2 months left to live. Daniel, an extremely avid Star Wars fan, feared he would die before the new movie came out.

Daniel's wife Ashley began a feverish social media campaign to make this happen for her ailing husband creating the hashtag #forcefordaniel. With the help of director J.J. Abrams and the brass at Disney, Daniel's wish was granted and he was allowed to view Star Wars The Force Awakens before anyone else.

Daniel passed away peacefully in his sleep. Rest in peace Daniel, may the force be with you.
