This weekend is Bootfest, Victoria's largest free festival of the year with anywhere from 20,000 to 30,000 people expected to attend and, in light of the recent mass shooting in Las Vegas, security is a high concern. Area law enforcement will be on alert and plans an active presence at the event.

Officials have been working in advance of the event as in previous years to be sure all the bases are covered. Explore Victoria Director Joel Novosad says first responders are well involved to insure public safety, including Victoria Police, Victoria Fire Department, and the Victoria County Office of Emergency Management.

Officials say the level of security at the event has been maintained since the first year of the event in 2011.
