Rolling Stones Keep Rolling: No Truth to Retirement Rumors

The Rolling Stones may be keeping quiet at the moment about their future plans, but that is apparently not to be taken a sign that the end has begun for the world’s most famous rock and roll band.

Rumors surfaced Saturday in the Sunday Mirror that the band were planning on playing Glastonbury next year as the final date of a handful of shows in the U.S. and the U.K., with the event likely being their farewell.

However, the Guardian quotes representatives for the group as stating that there was no truth to the claims on both fronts. Though the group have never played Glastonbury, it is not expected to happen as part of their 50th Anniversary tour.

A spokesperson for the festival also told the Guardian, ‘Everybody in the year off thinks they’ve come up with the perfect Glastonbury lineup. But at the moment there isn’t anything to confirm or deny.”

The rumors appear to be another false start for the band. Earlier this year Ron Wood suggested that the group would tour in October only to later state that he might have gotten ahead of himself with the news.
