Watch Robert Plant Debut Another New Song at Glastonbury

Last week, Robert Plant released ’Rainbow,’ the first single from his highly anticipated new album, ‘lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar.’ Fans at England’s Glastonbury Festival were given another taste of what to expect from his upcoming record with the performance of ‘lullaby…’ track ‘Little Maggie’ during Plant’s set last evening (June 28) on the Pyramid Stage.

Opening amid a plethora of percussion, ‘Little Maggie’ fuses roots music and blues with drum loops and electronics.

“It’s really a celebratory record, powerful, gritty, African, Trance meets Zep,” Plant said about the record. “The whole impetus of my life as a singer has to be driven by a good brotherhood. I am very lucky to work with the Sensational Space Shifters. They come from exciting areas of contemporary music…I have been around awhile and I ask myself, do I have anything to say? Is there a song still inside me? In my heart? I see life and what’s happening to me. Along the trail there are expectations, disappointments, happiness, questions and strong relationships….and now I’m able to express my feelings through melody, power and trance; together in a kaleidoscope of sound, color, and friendship.”

Arriving on Sept. 9, ‘lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar’ sees Plant return to writing his own material. With the exception of ‘Little Maggie’ and an adaptation of Lead Belly’s ‘Po’ Howard’ (‘Poor Howard,’) Plant wrote nine of the 11 songs for his new record with his band, the Sensational Space Shifters.
