You hear it all the time how service employees (waiters, waitresses, bartenders etc) rely heavily on their tips to survive. Well one national restaurant chain is doing away with tipping completely.

Joe's Crab Shack is in it's testing phase for the new model. Right now, it's only in 18 of it's restaurants but if all goes well it could be rolled out nationwide withing a couple of months.

But don't fret, servers will be paid a higher fixed hourly wage to make up for it. The downside? Menu price increases will also have to be implemented to make it work.

Joe's Crab Shack is trying to break servers free from having to rely on tips to live on. Because let's face it...not everybody tips. And what about slow days? The hourly fixed raised wage seems like a good idea.

As I said earlier, menu prices will probably increase if they decide to roll this out nationwide. But not by much. Some menu items might go as high as $.50 which most people will hardly notice.

I think it's a good idea, what do you think?

Let me know!
