A gay couple had a bad taste in their mouths after eating breakfast in a Pittsburg, Texas restaurant, but it had nothing to do with the food.

Big Earl’s Restaurant has come under fire after a waitress told a gay couple, “We don’t serve fags here.”

The couple – Collin Dewberry and Kelly Williams – had finished eating and were leaving Big Earl’s when the waitress, who happens to be the restaurant owner’s daughter, made her comments and followed it up with more remarks:

Here at Big Earl’s we like for men to act like men and for ladies to act like ladies, so we want you to never return.”

Apparently, that’s an actual policy at the establishment because it’s taped to the front door.

Big Earl’s owner, Earl Cheney, says the sign has been there since he opened for business three years ago. However, he claims the men were touching each other’s legs and that’s what violated the rules.

I didn’t go over there to inspect to see what he was rubbing. That’s just not appropriate in a family restaurant that has a sign on the front door that we just don’t do that here.”

Earl also claims he has surveillance video of the couple bothering his daughter, although he won’t show it.

Earl says homosexuals can eat at his restaurant, but need to follow the guidelines, noting, “You’re welcome to come and eat, but a man act like a man and a woman act like a woman. Dress appropriately and act appropriately when you’re in a public place.” When asked to be more specific, he said, "That a man's supposed to stand up and be a leader. He's not supposed to be a woman. He's not supposed to come in here in a dress."

The restaurant's Facebook page has generated quite a few comments on the matter, with several people taking either side.
