When Andrew Gross got up to bat in the 5th inning of UHV Jaguars first game of yesterday's doubleheader against LSU-Alexandria, he was one homer away from setting a school record. Gross got the pitch he was hoping for, and nailed a 3-run homer to set a school record of 18 homers in a single season, besting the record of 17 set by Zane Williams in 2009.

The Jaguars won that game 6-4 in a doubleheader split, falling in the 2nd game 13-2, that game stopped by the 10-run mercy rule.

The split lest the Jags with a record of 21-24 overall, 18-10 in conference.
