It's tough getting enough sleep on a regular basis, I know I don't. With long work days, unexpected things you have to deal with at home and other things that require your time, it's difficult. Studies over the years have consistently told us that not getting enough shuteye is a health risk, and that we can't make up for lost sleep. That may not be the case, however.

In an article published in USA Today, a study done by Swedish researchers published in the Journal of Sleep Research showed that sleeping in on weekends shows promise in making up for those lost z's.

Yes!

In the study, over 43,000 people were part of the 13-year research, and for those under 65 who slept less than 5 hours a night for a full week were shown to have a 52% higher mortality rate but, those who slept an extra hour or 2 on weekends, had a life expectancy about the same as those who regularly got 7 hours a night. Success!

So if you're like me, and you don't get enough sleep on a regular basis, you really can make it up on the weekend.
