Welcome back... MTV has released the trailer for the second season of Scream, its horror-thriller TV series based on Wes Craven's film franchise of the same name, and already we're too scared to pick up our phone when it rings!

While the cryptic teaser doesn't reveal too much about the season, it does set the mood for scares and surprises to come, hinting at Emma's return (she left for a retreat after the traumatic events of last season) as well as a number of lingering secrets just itching to be exposed, from a budding romance to a certain character's link to the brutal killer.

Also in the clip? Audrey is seen burning letters and running away from... something or someone, Noah tries desperately to break through a door, two characters approach a dark lake in the middle of night, and the masked killer peers through a window. And considering this season's creepy tagline is "Trust Nothing," we're hesitant to take anything at face value. Watch below:

According to the network, the show's second season hinges on digging up the community's tragic history: "What starts as a YouTube video going viral, soon leads to problems for the teenagers of Lakewood and serves as the catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to the town's troubled past. So thirsty for blood, we're coming back sooner than expected."

Scream Season 2 airs May 30 on MTV. Are you ready to return to Lakewood?
