There are plenty of motorcycle riders in the Crossroads and, since the weather is warmer, we can expect to see more on the roads. That's why the City of Victoria has officially declared the month of May Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.

An official proclamation signed by Mayor Paul Polasek at last night's city council meeting is in conjunction with National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says that the state averages one motorcycle accident death every single day in the state. The department has kicked off a campaign called 'Share the Road: Look Twice for Motorcycles,' which is obviously something all drivers should do. Speaking from personal experience, I was a rider when I lived in New Mexico but, I traded in my bike for a car after too many close calls with oblivious drivers. Check out the TXDOT official safety psa.
