A new refinery will be erected in Duval County between Corpus Christi and Laredo, Texas bringing roughly 1500 jobs to South Texas in 2017.

The refinery, which will be the biggest built in the U.S. in over 40 years, will process up to 50,000 barrels of Eagle Ford shale light crude oil a day, and will have up to 4 million barrels of available storage.

Raven Petroleum, the company building the refinery, expects the project to be completed by the end of 2018 with a cost of about $500 million.  They expect the creation of 1,500 of jobs to build the refinery in early 2017, along with 300 permanent jobs once the construction is complete.

Good news for the oil industry in the area that's for sure.
