Monday Night Football Recap — Bears Rout Cowboys, 45-28
Bad news for fans of both Texas NFL teams this week, as the Houston Texans lost again last Thursday (to nobody’s surprise at this point), and the Dallas Cowboys, who are not out of the playoff hunt yet , got beaten pretty good last night at Chicago’s Soldier Field.
Josh McCown passed for 348 yards and four touchdowns, and the Bears routed the Dallas Cowboys, 45-28, in frigid Chicago on Monday night.
The win moved the Bears (7-6) into a tie with the Lions at the top of the NFC North and pushed Dallas (7-6) a game behind Philadelphia in the NFC East.
The game-time temperature of 8 degrees and below-zero wind chill didn’t hinder either offense, but the Bears scored the last 10 points of the first half to surge to a 24-14 halftime lead. McCown’s 25-yard scoring pass to Alshon Jeffery with 10 seconds left in the second quarter cemented the Bears advantage.
Chicago added a Robbie Gould field goal and touchdown passes from McCown to Matt Forte and Michael Bush for a 42-14 edge early in the fourth quarter. Dallas scored two late touchdowns to close the final margin of defeat.
Forte rushed 20 times for 102 yards for Chicago, and McCown added a touchdown run to his impressive passing numbers.
Dallas running back DeMarco Murray carried 18 times for 146 yards, but quarterback Tony Romo was held to 104 passing yards with three scores.
