It seems like every major city in America has an MLK Blvd or Ave or St, right?  Ironically Memphis hasn't...until now.

Good, Lawd...It's 2012!!!  Despite what happened there in April of 1968, Memphis IS 65% African American.  Now I don't care one way or the other, but I was quite surprised to find out that Memphis is JUST NOW adding a street named after Martin Luther King.

The street, previously known as Linden Avenue, runs parallel to the city's tourist main drag Beale Street and in front of the FedEx Forum, home of the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies.

The sad part is that it doesn't take a black population like that to understand and appreciate what MLK did in terms of striving for equality.  But the fact that a city with such a large black population, the city where he was killed at that, was one of the only ones without a street named after MLK was quite surprising...if not shocking.

I'm just guessing, but I'm assuming Elvis has a street named after him there.  Just a guess.

Next up...JERRY LOLLAR ST.
