RCR Homes, “Your Crossroads Builder”, would like to take a moment to say Thank You to all the Heroes Behind the Badge.  We want to say Thank You to all the police officers, sheriff’s deputies, corrections officers, detectives, parole officers, probation officers, SWAT team members, traffic cops, police supervisors, law enforcement managers, fire fighters, EMS personnel and police chiefs.

This week we would like to honor Officer Jason Boyd. Jason is with the Victoria County Sheriff Office and also has a K-9. We asked him a few questions so we could get to know him better. Here is what he told us.

Any nicknames you have: no recent nick names but a past was "Nugget".

Best memory as a child: I can remember going with my grandpa, my dad, and my brother to a road near the golf course to walk and pick up golf balls that the not so good golfers had hit off the fairway across the road. It is very surprising how many golf balls we would find weekly.

Favorite music artist or song: Florida Georgia Line, Country music in general .

Favorite Concert you went too: Have been to a several country music but no favorite. Diamond Rio was the last band that I went to see.

Favorite place to eat locally: Tokyo Grill.

How long they have been in law enforcement? Approximately 10 years (2007).

Do you have any pets? If so what are their names? 2 dogs, Sheriff Canine "Dino" - 3 year old Belgian Malinois and family pet "Brock"- Maltese / Poodle mix.

What made you become an officer? (any advice). Since I was a child playing cops and robbers, I always wanted to be the cop, childhood dream I guess. A lot of kids want to be cops or fireman. I never really lost that want to be a cop. I believe my passion for what I do contributes to my success. Being an officer is not for everyone so with that my advice would be, whatever you decide to do, be passionate about it.

Is anything you want the public to know about you or about law enforcement: As a Law Enforcement Officer, I want the public to understand why we do what we do. Everyone that wears a Law Enforcement badge is more than an officer or deputy. We are fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters. We have children and families to go home to when our shift ends, even though we may be asked to return to work before our next shift if the need arises. We want the communities to be safe for everyone. We want to perform our duties with the highest regard for integrity and excellence.

If you know of someone who deserves to be honored please fill out the brief questionnaire below. Each week our station will be honoring a law enforcement person on air.  Heroes Behind the badge is brought to you by KIXS 108 and RCR Homes Your crossroads builder.
