This past weekend, Louis C.K. dropped yet another surprise for fans in the form of a new 67-minute episode of Horace and Pete, seemingly the first in a star-studded new series. Now, the comedian reveals that a second episode will drop as early as this weekend, and for a reduced price at that.

Where the initial episode of Horace and Pete only cost fans a measly $5 through Louis C.K.’s website, the second episode will arrive on Saturday for only $2. Subsequent episodes will run for $3, though it remains unclear how many to expect, given the apparent four slots outlined on the website.

The series follows the patrons and employees of an Irish bar, Horace and Pete’s, with C.K. writing, directing and starring. Alan Alda plays bartender Pete to C.K.’s Horace, joined by Steve Buscemi as another Pete. Among the myriad guest stars in the first episode, there’s The Sopranos alum Edie Falco, American Horror Story vet Jessica Lange, Rebecca Hall, Kurt Metzger, Steven Wright, SNL player Aidy Bryant and others.

In addition to an elegant note, the comedian explained his rationale for releasing the series in such an unorthodox fashion :

Part of the idea behind launching it on the site was to create a show in a new way and to provide it to you directly and immediately, without the usual promotion, banner ads, billboards and clips that tell you what the show feels and looks like before you get to see it for yourself.

As a writer, there’s always a weird feeing that as you unfold the story and reveal the characters and the tone, you always know that the audience will never get the benefit of seeing it the way you wrote it because they always know so much before they watch it. And as a TV watcher I’m always delighted when I can see a thing without knowing anything about it because of the promotion. So making this show and just posting it out of the blue gave me the rare opportunity to give you that experience of discovery.

FX’s Louie remains on an indefinite hiatus, but check out the premiere on C.K.’s website for $5, the subsequent episode this Saturday, and stay tuned for the latest.
