If you remember, I did a blog awhile back about a local grocery store selling expired products. Well, it did some good for awhile. The store was very diligent about pulling said products when they expired and making way for fresher stuff. Well, it seems they have fallen back to their old ways as I found out during a recent grocery shopping outing.

Now I have to note that I went to the store with the sole purpose of picking up some groceries. However, I will say that curiosity played a part after reading some complaints on a local business review's Facebook page that they were selling expired products like dairy, meat and even baby food.

Well, it took me literally 3 minutes to find 5 things all within an arm's length of each other. One of them being a tub of yogurt that had expired back in October. Now, do I fault the company as a whole? Of course not. I do think, however, that store management should stay on top of things like that. Yes, 1 or 2 things will slip through the cracks....I get that...but 5 things? All withing reaching distance of each other? In under 3 minutes? Yeah, that's a bit excessive.

Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I did check out the baby food out of sheer curiosity and found all the baby food I picked up and looked at was, in fact, in date....and pretty fresh. I also bought some meat and found nothing out of date in that department but whoever is over dairy.....get it together man. People in Victoria work...they work long, hard and thankless hours and earn their money. They need to know they can come to your establishment and get the best possible product available and it ain't yogurt that expired 2 months ago.

Not trying to say "stop shopping at this store" because, to be honest, I still shop there. But, I am saying be careful what you're buying and check those dates. It's as much our responsibility to check these products as it is theirs.
