Avenged Sevenfold have released the latest "evolution" of their The Stage LP, a cover of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here."

The band's take on the Pink Floyd classic joins a series of covers released in the months since The Stage arrived in stores, and arrives a little more than a month after they posted their cover of the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows." Those "evolution" bonus tracks, seven in all, will be collected for the deluxe edition of The Stage that's due for release Dec. 15 — and according to frontman M. Shadows, "Wish You Were Here" is where it all began.

"This is the song that started us down the rabbit hole with our recent cover recordings," he explained in a press release. "I’ve always loved this song and though I felt it would be impossible to capture the somberness of the original, we approached it with another purpose. There’s a poignancy to the song that seems appropriate with everything going on in the world today. We put a bit of a modern twist on it to reintroduce it at a time when it might help capture what some of us are feeling."

Before The Stage returns to stores, fans can look for Avenged Sevenfold at the 2017 Loudwire Music Awards. The band was recently announced as the headliner for the event, which is scheduled to take place Oct. 24 at the Novo in Los Angeles. "We are excited to celebrate a night of heavy metal with all of our friends," enthused Shadows. "We hope to see everyone there."
