Kiss have made it more and more of a priority in recent years to salute America’s veterans and service men and women, and that will continue Thursday night (July 19) with a special private show at Bristow’s Jiffy Lube Live on the eve of opening night in Virginia.

KissOnline.com reports that the group has invited 2,000 service men and women to catch their show. Boomer magazine coordinated the free ticket distribution, and both current and past soldiers will receive a special commemorative Kiss t-shirt to mark the occasion.

Kiss have been actively involved in the Hiring Our Heroes campaign, with the goal of getting veterans back into the workforce. Bassist/singer Gene Simmons has personally taken an active role hiring veterans to work at his various businesses, and on a recent episode of ‘Gene Simmons Family Jewels‘ he and his family took part in veterans programs and staged a special performance with the ‘Rock for Vets’ band.

Simmons says, “Hiring veterans is the most important thing that we can do.” For the band’s upcoming dates, the group held an open call for roadies for their upcoming tour, with Paul Jordan being selected among 1,900 applications for the position.

Jordan, a 20-year-vet from Georgia, will be on hand with the military audience Thursday night when Kiss get in their warm-up date for the tour start.
