Jethro Tull leader Ian Anderson has lined up a lengthy list of tour dates to support his upcoming Jethro Tull - The String Quartets LP, including a number of stops in the United States.

According to a press release announcing the shows, plans call for best-of sets at the U.S. dates, described as "multimedia performances billed as 'Jethro Tull by Ian Anderson'" and rounded out by "the regular rock band." At present, Anderson is booked for five such shows in all, starting May 27 in Albuquerque and concluding June 1 in Oklahoma, but an additional unspecified stop has been promised for May.

Additionally, before the Albuquerque show, Anderson is scheduled to make a May 26 stop at the Red Rocks Amphitheater, where he'll be playing with the Colorado Symphony. Specific details are unavailable, but the Red Rocks concert is described as a "special concert."

All the U.S. dates come after the March 24 release of the String Quartets album, which finds Anderson joined by the Carducci Quartet for reinterpretations of a dozen classic Tull tracks. Anderson and his solo band have planned a world tour in support of the LP; check the official Jethro Tull site for detailed information, and listen to the String Quartets version of "Ring Out These Bells."
