Chicago is the center of the music universe this week, at least where U.S. music fans are concerned, as Lollapalooza gets its annual spotlight. While they weren’t part of the actual Lollapalooza lineup, Jane’s Addiction did make an appearance in Chicago Saturday night.

Having fulfilled his organizing duties during the day, singer Perry Farrell headed over to the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago for the band’s aftershow. Fans packed into longtime Windy City music hub to catch the group, and got a surprise appearance from a member of one of Farrell’s other projects.

Grunge Report states that Peter DiStefano, who played bass for Farrell’s Porno for Pyros project, walked onstage to join the Jane’s members in rousing rendition of ‘Cursed Female.’ In addition to the brief Porno for Pyros spotlight, the night was filled with a mixture of Jane’s Addiction classics with a few newer songs thrown in to support their ‘The Great Escape Artist’ album.

Starting with the recent single ‘Underground,’ the band quickly dipped into the past with ‘Mountain Song.’ Their 12-song set also included such standards as ‘Been Caught Stealing,’ ‘Jane Says,’ ‘Stop,’ and the show closer ‘Ocean Size.’
