If there’s any film star/recording artist you could conceivably expect to see onstage belting out background vocals on a Queen song being covered by a band dedicated to releasing concept albums inspired by the ‘Mega Man’ video game franchise, it’s Jack Black of Tenacious D.

And that’s exactly what the crowd at a Nashville concert by the Protomen saw this week: When the band launched into its version of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ they called Black out to chip in on background vocals, and he was happy to oblige. So happy, in fact, that he ended up accidentally dismantling his microphone stand, and had to have one of the Protomen fix it for him.

While they’re known for their ‘Mega Man’ concept albums, the Protomen are also hardcore Queen fans; their most recent album, ‘Present: A Night of Queen,’ is a collection of live covers of songs by Queen and Black Sabbath. Check out Black’s appearance at this week’s show in the clip embedded below.
