There's no doubt that Texas has some of the best institutions of higher learning in the country, and I'm sure like me, you know plenty of intelligent people that make it their home. That's why a report from WalletHub that says the state is ranked pretty far down the list of most and least educated states surprises me.

The financial website compared metrics including educational attainment, education quality, achievement gaps and others to determine state rankings, and Texas came in 39th overall.

The Lone Star State also came in 49th in percentage of high school diploma holders, 37th in percentage of Associate's Degree Holders or Adults with College Experience, 29th on percentage of Bachelor's Degree holders, and 33rd in percentage of Graduate or Professional Degree holders.
