Well it was only a matter of time. The Houston Texans announced today that they have released idiot quarterback Ryan Mallett.

This coming from a ton of punctuality complaints starting at the NFL combine back in 2011 when he overslept and missed a meeting with the Carolina Panthers after being up all night partying.

Then, at the beginning of the season he was awarded the starting QB job over current QB Brian Hoyer but after putting up less than lackluster numbers he was benched in favor of Hoyer. That's where his problems started. He missed a team bus to practice. He missed an entire practice when he overslept. And finally, on Sunday, he missed the team charter flight to Miami and flew in commercially. He would have been cut by coach Bill O'Brien on Saturday but he was saved by GM Rick Smith solely because that would have left Houston with only 1 QB going into a game. That's just something you don't do.

So Mallet is now a free agent and former Texans QB T.J. Yates is expected to take over as backup. As for Mallett, I'm sure he'll land somewhere else considering the ongoing QB shortage in the NFL. But seriously, who wants that baggage? He was predicted by experts to have "Behavioral issues" coming out of the combine. Boy, where they right or what?
