The Houston Astros have been on a tear lately. Quite arguably one of the hottest teams in baseball right now winning 13 of their last 15 games. The team is 7 games over 500 and with the Rangers loss in Boston last night, 6.5 games back from the lead in the division.

Last night, the Stros completed the sweep of the visiting Seattle Mariners with a 9-8 victory. It was no easy victory as the Astros jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, then a 5-0 lead but pitcher Mike Fiers got into some trouble in the top of the 4th allowing 3 home runs letting the Mariners pull to within 1. The Astros would tack on 2 more before Seattle bounced right back with a 3 run homer tying the game at 7 all. Then, in the 8th, Astros 3rd baseman Luis Valbuena launched a monster 2 run home run that I'm not sure has landed yet putting the Stros up 9-7. Seattle would get one more run back in the 9th but it wasn't enough and the Astros would go on to win 9-8.

I surely hope the All Star break doesn't cool these bats off. They're playing like they are enjoying themselves and they're really fun to watch. I'm looking forward to the 2nd half of the season and the 9 games with the Rangers that are still yet to be played.

I love this sport!
