Custom cars and car shows are pretty popular here in Victoria, just stop by one of KLUB Classic Rock 106.9 and Compadres Design's Cruise Nights on the first Saturday of each month, and you'll see what I mean. Hundreds of people come out to enjoy it, and nearly as many cars and trucks are shined up for the event. There's another event planned for next year, called the 'Hot Rod Takeover at the Crossroads.'

According to a press release, this event is a car show and a music festival with hundreds of vehicles, live music on several stages, pyrotechnics, vendors and more and, admission for attendees will be free.

“All years of custom hot rods and rockabilly music will surround and take over Victoria’s historical downtown March 11, 2017,” says Bobby Sparkman, VP of the local ENJUNS Car Club. Bobby and his organization are spearheading the collaboration between the Club, the producer, the City and other partners. “This will be an experience for the entire family to enjoy; we’ve got our first band, The Octanes, signed up and we’ll be announcing more entertainment soon.”

“We [the City of Victoria] are excited to be working with Hat Rod Productions and ENJUNS Car Club to host this festival in Victoria,” says Anthony Cordo, Director of the City’s Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Events like this are great for our community – both economically and for residents’ quality of living. Joel Aaron Gammage at Hat Rod Productions has proved his ability to deliver high-quality shows and their following across Texas will drive visitation.”

Hat Rod Productions has a five year track record of producing massively attended auto shows in historical Texas downtowns; in 2016 the Annual Hot Rods and Hatters show drew over 30,000 attendees and 800 vehicles across twenty-two city blocks. Hot Rod Standoff II in downtown Gonzalez drew 200 cars and 3,500 spectators last year and is expected to more than double in size in 2016.

“Our events are for everyone, all ages with an enjoyable environment of music, fun, food and beverages,” says Joel Aaron Gammage of Hat Rod Productions. “We attract many popular types of show vehicles: classics, customs, drag racers, trucks, rat rods and hot rods. The fantastic layout in downtown Victoria and the support we’re getting from local organizations will help us launch this as a big event right from the start.”

“We as a City support events like this because they bring dollars in from outside the community,” says Mayor Paul Polasek, “and because they’re a great opportunity for residents to enjoy a free day of music and outdoor entertainment with their families.”

We'll keep you posted on new information as it becomes available for this event, which looks like it will be pretty awesome!
