The end is here for Harold Camping.

Camping, the evangelist who infamously and incorrectly predicted the Rapture on May 21, 2011, died last Saturday at his Oakland, California home. He was 92.

Camping, who headed the Family Radio Network, came squarely into the mainstream in 2011 when he said the world would end. His followers helped him pour millions of dollars into thousands of billboards and nearly two dozen RVs proclaiming Judgment Day was coming.

Several of his followers also quit their jobs and sold everything they owned. After the world kept on a-chugging when May 21, 2011 came and went, Camping said he was "not in the business of financial advice," while also admitting the whole matter was "embarrassing."

He suffered a stroke about three weeks after the May date and gave up his proclamations, although it should be noted he had also incorrectly modified the Rapture for October 21, 2011.

In March of last year, he opened up about his errors, writing, "We realize that many people are hoping they will know the date of Christ's return. We humbly acknowledge we were wrong about the timing."

Camping is survived by a wife of 71 years.
