As we near the end of another school year, graduating high school students are faced with some big life decisions, like whether or not to go on to college. That's where the GenTX Decision Day comes in. This statewide initiative aims at encouraging students to do just that by creating a culture of going to college.

V.I.S.D., the University of Houston-Victoria and Victoria College has teamed with area businesses and civic organizations to encourage students to further their education either through college or job training.

According to a press release, students are encouraged to wear a college t-shirt today to show their support. Crossroads residents are also encouraged to post GenTX Decision Day pictures on social media with the hashtag #GenTXVictoria, and prizes will be awarded for the best photos.

Officials say last year, more than 25,000 students of all ages participated in GenTX Decision Day activities last year.
