There's only one person who could make our 45th President's tweets sound more deranged than they already are, and his name is Gollum.

Actor Andy Serkis visited with Stephen Colbert last night while promoting War for the Planet of the Apes, and spent most of the time chatting about his current role. Serkis is a qualified actor in his own right, but has made his career as the dominant motion-capture actor of this generation. Trust us, that will be a thing people discuss in a few more years.

As interesting as Caesar is, Stephen Colbert is a longtime Lord of the Rings fan, and couldn't resist the temptation to ask Serkis to reprise the role that put him on the map: Gollum. The tormented creature is beloved by fans as Serkis's performance gave the thing formerly known as Smeagol depth and personality missing from previous film incarnations.

Of course, just having Andy Serkis act like Gollum in a regular conversation wouldn't be all that exciting. Having him act like Gollum while reading some of 45's most curious tweets of the past few weeks however, that's a different story all together. It's even possible that Gollum's scratchy, high-pitched tones make the tweets sound much more devious than they were originally. That's no small task mind you, as it's hard not to read 45's tweets in his own staccato style of speech.

Though we could easily have spent the rest of the night listening to Gollum read some of those outrageous, 140-character declarations, the bit is only a few tweets long. Those few minutes make for some truly entertaining television however. Maybe Serkis can just come back every few weeks to keep the gag going. Now that War for the Planet of the Apes is nearly out, he should have some free time, right?
