Like the oil in your car, blood is the essential fluid that we all depend on. Whether its an accident, a surgery, or some other medical reason, the need for blood donations is ongoing, especially here in south Texas, where the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center provides blood and its components to 100 hospitals and clinics in 43 counties. That's why the City of Victoria has scheduled a drive next week.

Wednesday, July 11th  at 700 Main Center Parking Lot from 8am-12noon, and from 1-3pm

Thursday, July 12th at the City Hall/Police Dept. Parking Lot from 8am-12noon, and from 1-3pm

Friday, July 13th at Fire Station 4, at Salem Rd. & Loop 463 from 9:30-12noon and from 1-3pm.

Just to put things in perspective, the SBTC needs 600 units of blood every single day to meet the needs of south Texas, and in Victoria alone, the center supports the needs of 12 surrounding counties.

If you're 16 yrs old, weigh at least 120 pounds and have parental consent, or are at least 17 yrs old and are at least 110 pounds, are in good general health, then you can donate.

Give the gift of life!
