Eric Johnson is one of those guitar players that sets a new standard for style, tone, fluidity and accuracy, not to mention is melodic songwriting. I was fortunate enough to see him recently as part of the Experience Hendrix tour, and the man was nothing short of phenomenal. As an amateur player myself who can barely make it through fractured versions of Iron Man and Free Bird, it's always inspiring to see someone like Eric play, that is until I try to learn one of his techniques. Then I just want to break my guitar. I suppose it helps if you have hands that are built for guitar, with fingers that are about a mile long. Here's a little inspiration from the master himself.
