The Victoria Generals made it a productive trip to Kilgore last night, coming away with a 9-7 victory over the East Texas Pump Jacks.

It wa soly the second meeting between the two teams, the Generals on top in the Texas Collegiate Leage, the Pump Jacks at the opposite end of the standings.

The Pump jacks drew first blood on a 2 out double Peter Miller, but in the 2nd, J.B Moss tied the game on an RBI single.

The Pump Jacks took a 3-2 lead from The Generals in the 4th with a RBI double from Raymond Pedrina.

The Generals took the lead once more off of an error made by short stop James Lear.  Matthew Burks and Cedric Vallieres would come in to score, as a pitching change would be forth coming. Starting pitcher Allen Ellis allowed 4 runs on 5 hits and had 3 strikeouts.

The Generals continued to build their lead in the 6th with a sacrifice fly from Alvaro Rondon. Cooper would score later in the inning off of a RBI from Burks. A pass ball brought in Tanner Hill, extending the lead to 4 runs. A double from J.B Moss brought in 2 more runs in the 6th, as the General jumped out to a 9-3 lead.

Another pitching change would be made for East Texas as Andrew Grifol replaced Danny Bolanos. Bolanos allowed 2 runs on 1 hit and walked 3 batters.

The Pump Jacks would tack on 2 more runs to cut the lead to 9-5 in the 6th. As a result, C.J. Pickering came in to replace Armando Arevalo on the mound. Arevalo pitched 6 innings, striking out 8 batters, and allowed 5 runs on 8 hits.

C.J Pickering, making his Generals debut, allowed no runs on two hits in one inning of work.

Heading to the bottom of the 8th with the Generals leading by a score of 9-5, pitcher Chris Jones would make his first appearance of the night.

With Jones on the mound, the Generals gave up 2 more runs, making the game a 9-7 lead for Victoria.

Jeff Chesnut would come in soon after to relieve the pressure off of Jones.

Chesnut would get his 6th save of the season, striking out 1 batter and allowing 0 hits. Armando Arevalo got the win for the Generals.

Next up, The Generals are in action tonight against the Acadiana Cane Cutters at 7:05 at Riverside Stadium. Tonight is Klean Corp International Faith and Family Night. Gates open at 5:30pm and the first 500 fans will receive a Victoria Generals Rally Towel.
