Florida state wildlife officials captured and killed an alligator that attacked a woman in the Wekiva River in Central Florida on Saturday.

Officials say 37 year old Rachel Lilienthal of Orlando FL ignored posted signs about the gators and decided to swim in a river in central Florida.

Passing kayakers said the woman was alone and had chosen to swim in a part of the river with heavy vegetation. Then, all of the sudden, she started screaming and was pulled underwater multiple times before kayakers were able to reach the scene and started beating the alligator with paddles until it let go.

The woman suffered a severed arm (just below the elbow) but is expected to survive. The gator on the other hand wasn't so lucky. Florida fish and game officials tracked down the animal and killed it.

So that's how it works I guess. Woman was incredibly stupid. Wanders into a river where gators are known to frequent and swims alone in a remote part of said river and the alligator is hunted and killed for acting like an alligator.

And what's up with Florida? Always happens in Florida. Are the people there just really really dumb or what? I don't get it.

That's why I only swim in pools.....just saying.
