The bi-annual event known as the Texas Mile moved to Victoria Regional Airport last month and, officials are calling the first run a big success.

According to a published report in the Victoria Advocate, just over 3,500 spectators attended the 3-day event, and there were 220 people that ran in the event. Victoria city officials say hotel occupancy was up 68.2% the day before the event, up first day 72%, 75.2% the second day, and up 44.3& the final day. Restaurants also saw large numbers of people that weekend.

Event co-owner Shannon Matus called the outcome of the first Texas Mile in Victoria "stupendous."
