OK before I get into it I'll admit, I watch the Texans. I'm not a true "fan" of course. Anyone that knows me knows my heart lies with my Miami Dolphins. However, it doesn't take a genius to know when the time has come to cut loose dead weight and move on. Case and point....My Dolphins cut ties with coach Joe Philbin a couple of weeks ago and new life has been brought to the team.

Texans already cut loose some dead weight in a big way this week in letting go cry baby quarterback Ryan Mallett. His constant tardiness and sideline antics (leaving the sideline early) was finally enough for the brass to say goodbye.

Now, unfortunately, the time has come to cut ties with franchise running back Arian Foster. The guy is one injury away from a nursing home. In the 6 seasons he's been with the Texans he has only played 2 full seasons. The other times he was watching from the sidelines with an injury of some kind. They guy is injury prone, yes it happens, but that IR savvy player is costing the Texans $9 million a year. Don't get me wrong...the guy is good when he's healthy. But when is that? The guy had a breakout year in 2011 leading the NFL is rushing yards and touchdowns but that was 4 years ago. It has not gotten better.

There are a couple of decent running backs sitting at home right now. However, nobody wants the baggage of Ray Rice or the inconsistencies or Pierre Thomas or the "hot one play cold the next" of Steven Jackson. The best bet would be to draft a strong running back out of college second to a good strong quarterback. You have Cecil Shorts, Nate Washington and D'Andre Hopkins locking down the WR duties, the defense needs to sort themselves out but all good players. You just need a thrower and a runner in the offseason.

But, knowing the Texans, they'll draft some defensive lineman out of Appalachian State. I know, it's not that ridiculous but it's pretty damn close.
