Dream Theater’s ‘Live at Luna Park’ To Be Shown In Theaters Prior to DVD Release

From Dream Theater to the movie theater. That’s the path for the band’s upcoming concert film ‘Live at Luna Park.’ Beginning Sept. 19, it will be screened at cinemas worldwide.

To see a trailer for the film and check out the closest location for a screening, visit the Live at Luna Park website.

‘Live at Luna Park’ was filmed over two nights in Buenos Aires, Argentina during the final leg of Dream Theater’s ‘A Dramatic Turn of Events’ world tour. The epic 160 minute concert includes classic songs like ‘Metropolis Pt. 1,’ ‘Pull Me Under,’ ‘The Silent Man’ and ‘The Root Of All Evil’ along with more recent fan favorites such as ‘On the Backs of Angels.’

Here’s what guitarist John Petrucci says in a trailer for ‘Live at Luna Park': “At the point that we hit the stage, it really becomes less about us and more about the audience, more about the people that are there.”

Shortly after the theatrical premiere of ‘Live at Luna Park’ comes Dream Theater’s latest album, a self-titled effort being released Sept. 24.

If you’re not able to make to a theater to see ‘Live at Luna Park,’ it will be released Nov. 5 on DVD, Blu-Ray, CD and deluxe edition packages that include a book.

As Dream Theater do press talking about the new album and concert film, one topic that has come up is the fate of former drummer Mike Portnoy, who left the band a few years ago and was replaced by Mike Mangini. In a recent interview he said he’d rejoin the band “in a heartbeat,” but vocalist James LaBrie chimed in by saying, “It’s not gonna happen.”
