As far as tribute albums go, the upcoming Deep PurpleRe-Machined: A Tribute to Machine Head‘ should be a pretty solid effort. Sporting acts like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Chickenfoot and Carlos Santana, it looks as though no effort was wasted in getting some top performers.

Though the effort doesn’t arrive until Sept. 25, there’s now a trailer fans can enjoy taking them inside the sessions of one of the songs recorded for the disc. Jimmy Barnes, Aussie singer for Cold Chisel who may be best known stateside for his duet with INXS‘ Michael Hutchence on the ‘Lost Boys’ soundtrack favorite, ‘Goodtimes,’ takes the lead on a cover of ‘Lazy,’ which also features guitar great Joe Bonamassa.

In the trailer, Barnes states, “I’m a huge Deep Purple fan. As a young kid it was one of the reasons I wanted to get into rock and roll. I wanted to be as loud as Deep Purple … I just want to tip my hat to them and say how influential they were on me as well as other musicians, including the guys in this room today recording.”

The three-minute-long trailer takes you inside the session, which really gives those involved a chance to show off their musicianship. Bonamassa laughs, “It was funny to watch as we all played and sing it live. Jimmy’s part doesn’t come in until about four minutes into the song. There’s four solos, the long keyboard intro, but when he came in, it just glued it together. He nailed it. And I just thought it was one of the coolest things I’ve been involved in in a long time and we had a lot of fun.”

The album will initially arrive with Classic Rock magazine’s Deep Purple fanpack, which is expected to land at newsstands beginning Sept. 4 in the U.K.
