A Houston-area family claims to have found a dead rat in of a bottle of Dr. Pepper — one they say their toddler had been sipping from.

John Graves, of Katy Texas, said he and his family were on an outing in Galveston and stopped at a Valero station to get a drink. They purchased a 20 oz Dr. Pepper for their 3 year old (Wait...what?) and claim halfway through drinking the contents, they 3 year old noticed something floating in the bottle.

Turns out, the floating object was a dead mouse.

To condense a long story, Graves took his kid to the Dr to get tested for multiple diseases that can come about drinking dead mouse soda.

Graves reached out to Dr. Pepper who stated they would like to send the bottle (and mouse) to an independent 3rd party lab for further testing which would take 6-8 weeks but Graves refuses to hand the bottle over.

Dr. Pepper claims the tests can determine if the rodent has diseases, how it got into the bottle to begin with, and even the contents of the mouse's stomach to determine what he had been snacking on prior to entering the bottle.

Graves claims they are trying to take the bottle to destroy evidence and sweep it under the rug. Me, I would have delivered the bottle myself to Dr. Pepper's offices seeking answers.

The family is contemplating contacting a lawyer (I'd imagine any number of lawyers have been contacting them chomping at the bit to bring about a lawsuit)

So many theories here. Can it happen? I guess. Although it's virtually impossible for anything foreign to enter the bottle during the bottling process. So either the mouse was already in the bottle at the filling line or it was put there after. If the family refuses to send it off for testing it will be impossible to determine which.

And stop giving 3 year olds that much Dr. Pepper!
