Among the multiple pickups announced at CBS' 2013 Upfront presentation, notably absent was the presence of the Ari Graynor-fronted 'Bad Teacher' adaptation, which had previously been seen as an attractive prospect for the network. Now, CBS has officially ordered the 'Bad Teacher' TV series for midseason, but has anything changed about the series? Meet the new 'Bad Teacher' inside!

Though Eddie Murphy's 'Beverly Hills Cop' TV series sadly fell through the cracks, the eye networks' other major movie adaptation, 'Bad Teacher,' has been rescued from the scrap heap. CBS has officially given a series order to the adaptation of the 2011 Cameron Diaz/Justin Timberlake comedy, most likely to debut at midseason after the current lineup.

Former 'Fringe' star Ari Graynor takes the lead role of Meredith Davis, a “hot, confident, unapologetic trophy wife. The kind of woman other women hate. But when her husband leaves her without a dime, the fantasy is over and she’s forced to get a job. Meredith, a smart and savvy survivor, doesn’t miss a beat. When she hears there are a lot of rich single dads at a local middle school, she sets her sights on a teaching career. Meredith Davis knows what she wants and more importantly, how to get it.”.

Also cast is comedian David Alan Grier as the titular character’s principal, 'Sex and the City' vet Kristin Davis as Meredith's rival, along with 'The Big Bang Theory's' Sara Gilbert and 'Party Down's' Ryan Hansen. ‘Community‘ and ‘Happy Endings‘ writer Hilary Winston provided the script for the adaptation and will serve as executive producer alongside the original film’s writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupinsky.

What say you? Are you excited to see a new 'Bad Teacher' given a TV series on CBS? Will the series live up to the film?
